Litigation Support
Assistance in litigation matters, dispute resolutions, or financial claim settlements involves much more than writing a report and possibly testifying in a court of law.
The real work is obtaining evidential matter to support report conclusions and testimony. Document examination and financial analysis are fundamental. The discovery process must be performed efficiently to avoid opposing objections to overly burdensome request for document production and unnecessary costs. Knowing what to look for requires experience and knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
Experience in financial auditing, accounting systems, and internal control evaluations provides that knowledge, and we bring decades of exactly that kind of experience to the forensic accounting analysis and litigation engagement.
Thomas A. Gaitens has served as a litigation consultant or financial expert to both plaintiff and defense counsel in matters involving class action security fraud, breach of contract, fiduciary malfeasants, defalcation and theft of property, financial statement fraud or misrepresentation, wrongful discharge, wrongful death, marital property disputes and settlements and business interruption claims. He is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is also a Certified Forensic Accountant (Cr.FA) and a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Accounting.
We also work directly with insurance companies in matters not involved in litigation. We review policyholder’s business loss claims and report our conclusion directly to the insurer.
